Jews have been well represented in the cinema industry from the beginning of the film era: behind the screen, as producers, distributors, directors, script-writers, composers, set designers; and on the screen, as Jewish actors and as named Jewish characters in the film's plot. Some of these characters are fictional; others, ranging from Rabbi Loew of Prague to Ferdinand Lassalle and Alfred Dreyfus, have a historic original. This book examines how a variety of German and Austrian films treat aspects of Jewish life, at home and in the synagogue, and Jewish interaction with fellow Jews in different cultural environments; conflicts and accommodations between Jews and non-Jews at various times, ranging from the medieval to the contemporary. Columbia Pictures reaches a major milestone in 2024 by celebrating the 100-year anniversary of Columbia’s incorporation. In the same vein of recent Hollywood movie studio titles such as Warner Bros.: Hollywood’s Ultimate Backlot, Paramount: City of Dreams, and MGM: Hollywood’s Greatest Backlot, this new book documents the studio history of Columbia Pictures Corporation in Hollywood, as well as Columbia’s back lot in Burbank, California. This book reveals how Columbia came to be founded by Joe Brandt and brothers Harry and Jack Cohn in 1924, and uses the “studio tour” concept to describe Columbia's history of filmmaking, which includes Lost Horizon, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, From Here to Eternity, The Bridge on the River Kwai, as well as many serials and television programs. The book has hundreds of photos, including studio documents, vintage publicity stills, and candids, along with aerial views and maps. The majority of the photos have never been published before.

The Encyclopedia of the Documentary Film is a fully international reference work on the history of the documentary film from the Lumière brothers' Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory (1885) to Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 911 (2004). This Encyclopedia provides a resource that critically analyzes that history in all its aspects. Not only does this Encyclopedia examine individual films and the careers of individual film makers, it also provides overview articles of national and regional documentary film history. It explains concepts and themes in the study of documentary film, the techniques used in making films, and the institutions that support their production, appreciation, and preservation.

Close-Up explores the defamiliarising effects of bringing a camera lens very close to its subject. Trans-historical and cross-generational, the exhibition brings together selected experiments in close-up film and photography from mid-nineteenth century microscopy; avant-garde film and photography from the 1920s and 1930s; post-war conceptual art; and contemporary art from the 1990s and 2000s.
