When we actually understand who Jesus Christ is in our lives, then He will certainly direct the personal choices that we always make daily and we will be able to avoid awful choices, like polygamy, which is one of the major foes in our homes. When our choices are God's choices, then we will surely have the good idiosyncrasy. For most of us, we have always been taught from a young age that a normal relationship should be between two different people of opposite sexes only. Anything beyond that is no longer considered health. That is called polygamy. And I wish to present to you a few pros and cons of polygamy: Few pros of polygamy: - It gives people freedom of choice when it comes to marrying whom they love. - It offers the husband more prestige and He will also have more options when it comes to sexual companionship, which makes him the envy of his peers. - It provides a better supports system and this eliminates the risk of depression among the members, especially the children. - It guarantees financial stability of the household, which will then have more income, which can be shared by everyone. - It has an abundance of love, when you have children from all spouses, and you will have even more love to last you a lifetime. - It prevents adultery and reduces adultery to a non issue and prevents the temptation of cheating on your spouse. Few cons of polygamy: - It can be the cause for abuse of power simply the man might think that he can be unfair to his wives just because they have consent over the relationship. - It brings jealousy then favoritism among your children can also cause jealousy and emotional distress. - It could prevent a person from spending quality time or this can also cause problems in the long run, especially when it comes to the younger ones, emotional development. - It can lead to abuse which can lead the wives to becoming more submissive to their husband, fearing that they might be replaced with a new wife. - It affects the children most, so children might tease them for having more than one mother in their house. - It could make women feel neglected, one of the wives could get hurt, especially when the man in the house brings in a new wife. Note: Polygamy can encourage the idea that women are considered objects that men can owe. Eventually, this can lead to abuse.

In tracking the evolution of the First Amendment's Free Exercise and Establishment Clause doctrine through Key Supreme Court decisions on religious freedom, legal scholar Randall P. Bezanson focuses on the court's shift from strict separation of church and state to a position where the government accommodates and even fosters religion. Beginning with samples from the latter half of the nineteenth century, the detailed case studies present new problems and revisit old ones as well: the purported belief of polygamy in the Mormon Church; state support for religious schools; the teaching of evolution and creationism in public schools; Amish claims for exemption from compulsory education laws; comparable claims for Native American religion in relation to drug laws; and rights of free speech and equal access by religious groups in colleges and public schools.

From her days of feeling like “a root beer among the Cokes”—Coca-Cola being a forbidden fruit for Mormon girls like her—Joanna Brooks always understood that being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints set her apart from others. But, in her eyes, that made her special; the devout LDS home she grew up in was filled with love, spirituality, and an emphasis on service. With Marie Osmond as her celebrity role model and plenty of Sunday School teachers to fill in the rest of the details, Joanna felt warmly embraced by the community that was such an integral part of her family. But as she grew older, Joanna began to wrestle with some tenets of her religion, including the Church’s stance on women’s rights and homosexuality. In 1993, when the Church excommunicated a group of feminists for speaking out about an LDS controversy, Joanna found herself searching for a way to live by the leadings of her heart and the faith she loved. The Book of Mormon Girl is a story about leaving behind the innocence of childhood belief and embracing the complications and heartbreaks that come to every adult life of faith. Joanna’s journey through her faith explores a side of the religion that is rarely put on display: its humanity, its tenderness, its humor, its internal struggles. In Joanna’s hands, the everyday experience of being a Mormon—without polygamy, without fundamentalism—unfolds in fascinating detail. With its revelations about a faith so often misunderstood and characterized by secrecy, The Book of Mormon Girl is a welcome advocate and necessary guide.

Right up there with In Cold Blood and The Executioner’s Song.” —San Francisco Chronicle Defying both civil authorities and the Mormon establishment in Salt Lake City, the renegade leaders of these Taliban-like theocracies are zealots who answer only to God; some 40,000 people still practice polygamy in these communities. At the core of Krakauer’s book are brothers Ron and Dan Lafferty, who insist they received a commandment from God to kill a blameless woman and her baby girl. Beginning with a meticulously researched account of this appalling double murder, Krakauer constructs a multi-layered, bone-chilling narrative of messianic delusion, polygamy, savage violence, and unyielding faith. Along the way he uncovers a shadowy offshoot of America’s fastest growing religion, and raises provocative questions about the nature of religious belief.
