Ground of the Devil: Book Two By: Richard Rezendes Ground of the Devil: Book Two is the continuation of Ground of the Devil: Book One, beginning with its history and clean up, only to be surprised by one of the mother’s demons that terrorized Moodus and the Mohegan Sun Casino, a lizard-like creature with lots of tentacles, pincers, and a stinging tail like the mother. Other demons look like rats, dragons, crocodiles/alligators, lizards, hyenas, devil dogs, giant mosquitoes, bat birds, crawling worm siblings, demons looking like the mother, sea demons, whale shark giant sea monster devils, bigfoot monkey-looking demons. The devil's fourteen demons, some of them come from under the ground, traveling at a high rate of speed for its attack; some fly like prehistoric birds, and some live in the sea and spreads their venom. All fourteen demons have lobster-like claws and a scorpion stinger tail, and all of them are different but attack the same way as their mother. None of the demons spray fire like the mother, but they are all killing machines; however, they were put down by military force! A substance called “the pink blob slime jelly orange sand” was the devil's powerful venom, and all the demons have it. Some of the fourteen demons have siblings. The venom turns colors, and it's electrified and glows in the dark, looking like a moving jellyfish and terrorizing the globe with fear of the second coming of the devil.

Built around major historic events in the period 1520-1548, it is also a tale of tragedy, pain and human triumph. Marguerite de Navarre, sister of the king of France, first wrote a portion of this tale in her Heptameron. Once every hundred years since the 15th century, the tale of Marguerite de Roberval ordeal on an island off the coast of Labrador has been retold, though seldom in English. This work attempts to answer fictionally historic questions surrounding De Roberval and his niece Marguerite. The historic period presented is at the apex of the Age of Exploration, the Reformation and the Renaissance. It is peopled with historic figures: Rabelais and Francis I, Henry VIII and John Calvin, Cartier and De Roberval, Viceroy of New France.

This is the remarkable story of an airplane that became a legend--with a sleek silhouette and bent wings, it doubled as a day and night fighter, could fly off carriers or from land, and served both as a dive bomber and reconnaissance plane. Filled with facts and figures, this fast-paced history begins with the nerve-wracking test flights of the 1940s and concludes with the F4Us that were active thirty-eight years later. Placed skillfully in between are the stories that gave birth to the legend: the exploits of the aces, including the Medal of Honor recipient who shot down twenty-five enemy planes, and the details of the combat missions of Charles A. Lindbergh. During thirty months of combat in World War II with the U.S. Navy and Marines, the Corsair shot down more than two thousand Japanese planes. In Korea the U-bird, as it was called, was credited with ten aerial victories. A trip down memory lane for anyone who has followed the career of this Cadillac of the props, this new paperback edition of a book first published in hardcover in 1979 offers fine historical aviation reading that presents a riveting picture of the men and machine that helped win two wars.
