"This report is intended to serve as the Participant Handbook containing the course material for the FHWA-sponsored training course of the Design and Operation of Work Zone Traffic Control. The intent of the course is to teach the proper application of the principles of Part 6 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The course materials include design elements showing the proper design and layout of work zones under varying traffic and roadway conditions. Sample problems are presented to allow the participants of the course to apply the design guidelines to specific situations.
