However, in compiling a volume titled “DATA MINING: Foundations and Intelligent Paradigms: Volume 1: Clustering, Association and Classification” we wish to introduce some of the latest developments to a broad audience of both specialists and non-specialists in this field.

The book presents some of the most efficient statistical and deterministic methods for information processing and applications in order to extract targeted information and find hidden patterns. The techniques presented range from Bayesian approaches and their variations such as sequential Monte Carlo methods, Markov Chain Monte Carlo filters, Rao Blackwellization, to the biologically inspired paradigm of Neural Networks and decomposition techniques such as Empirical Mode Decomposition, Independent Component Analysis and Singular Spectrum Analysis. The 4-volume set LNCS 11632 until LNCS 11635 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Security, ICAIS 2019, which was held in New York, USA, in July 2019. The conference was formerly called “International Conference on Cloud Computing and Security” with the acronym ICCCS. The total of 230 full papers presented in this 4-volume proceedings was carefully reviewed and selected from 1529 submissions. This book combines the advantages of high-dimensional data visualization and machine learning in the context of identifying complex n-D data patterns. It vastly expands the class of reversible lossless 2-D and 3-D visualization methods, which preserve the n-D information. This class of visual representations, called the General Lines Coordinates (GLCs), is accompanied by a set of algorithms for n-D data classification, clustering, dimension reduction, and Pareto optimization.
