With luck, they might survive their first date... Dear Reader, this letter is to inform you of Cupid’s curse, which will fall upon you if you don’t pass this email on to three friends within three hours. Tilly Morrow didn’t believe in the curse and now she hasn’t had a second date in three years...because all her first dates end in disaster. In fact, she just accidentally punched a guy in the face, leaving her without a date for Valentine’s Day! Bryant Murphy isn’t sure if the curse is real or not, but if dating Tilly means occasionally getting assaulted with a chocolate shake or nearly electrocuted, it’s worth the risk. Armed with more lucky charms than a bowl of cereal, Bryant will have to battle flying swords, Russian mail-order brides, and shrimp linguini if he’s going to win the girl. Previously released on Entangled’s Flirt imprint - February 2014.

My name is Jack. Oh, don't let the masculine sounding nickname fool you. I'm all girl--even like long walks along the beach-- but when it comes to matters of the heart, well, I'm a bitch. That's not my technical title. Officially, I'm a Cupid. Cursed by Eros, the God of Love, himself, to help others believe in "happily ever afters." Me, I swore never to be a sucker for the swoon six years ago. One arrow away from immortality, I don't plan on changing my single status ... no matter what that meddling god has cooked up in his "all you need is love" brain.

Cupid is on a mission. He wants to find a young couple and make them fall in love. But things go horribly wrong when a demon attacks Cupid, transforming him into a human with no memory prior to his attack. Cupid wakes up in 1880s New Mexico in the bed of a beautiful but troubled woman. In this strange and confusing world, Cupid tries to establish himself, but cannot displace the feeling that he does not belong. Neither can he rid himself of the thought that something is terribly wrong. Despite his disturbing thoughts, Cupid quickly falls for his beautiful caregiver, Shae, even though she is also being romantically pursued by a controlling and overbearing man named Leon. Cupid then learns that he must return to heaven and complete what he has done for thousands of years: bring love to the world. Cupid is torn between his duty and his one true love. He is forced to take a path that leaves him heartbroken. The message of this story is that no matter how bad things seem to be, there is always hope. He gave her Cupid's Curse. Now, he's got one last chance to win her over. Mallory James hates being a Cupid, almost as much as she hates the god who forced the curse on her. But the end of her contract with Eros is finally here. Ninety-nine matches made means she is now free to use the final piece of her heart for herself. And that's exactly what Eros is hoping for. Eros cursed Mallory, just like so many in his service, for the heart she broke. She's different though. The moment he sees her, Eros knows that Mallory is his. He should, after all. He's the god of love. Now, he'll have to convince her that they're meant to be...Before she gives the final piece of her heart away. Past lives, forgotten memories, and a world that Mallory has never been a part of all interfere with her plans. The biggest obstacle, however, comes when she finds one more couple who need help. Mallory can either keep the last piece of her heart for herself, or she can give it away knowing that she'll never find love again. Fairy tales are supposed to be magical, surprising, and exhilarating, an enchanting counterpoint to everyday life that nonetheless helps us understand and deal with the anxieties of that life. Today, however, fairy tales are far from marvelous—in the hands of Hollywood, they have been stripped of their power, offering little but formulaic narratives and tame surprises. If we want to rediscover the power of fairy tales—as Armando Maggi thinks we should—we need to discover a new mythic lens, a new way of approaching and understanding, and thus re-creating, the transformative potential of these stories. In Preserving the Spell, Maggi argues that the first step is to understand the history of the various traditions of oral and written narrative that together created the fairy tales we know today. He begins his exploration with the ur-text of European fairy tales, Giambattista Basile’s The Tale of Tales, then traces its path through later Italian, French, English, and German traditions, with particular emphasis on the Grimm Brothers’ adaptations of the tales, which are included in the first-ever English translation in an appendix. Carrying his story into the twentieth century, Maggi mounts a powerful argument for freeing fairy tales from their bland contemporary forms, and reinvigorating our belief that we still can find new, powerfully transformative ways of telling these stories.
