Managing COVID-19 alone can be a difficult in many cases, but for persons with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes the challenge can be all the greater, and specific considerations need to be taken when prescribing treatment to manage them. This book is a culmination of scientific work driven by personal conviction to enhance the care provided to the vulnerable populations COVID-19 patients with diabetes. COVID-19 pandemic caused by SARS-COV-2 virus has evolved into a global crisis and is a major concern especially for the diabetes community. People with diabetes mellitus have increased morbidity and mortality associated with COVID-19 infection. Conversely, COVID-19 infection and treatment may predispose to hyperglycemia. Potentially modifiable risk factors have been discussed and urgent need to mitigate the risks is warranted.
