Vehicles are complex systems (non-linear, multi-variable) where the abundance of embedded controllers should ensure better security. This book aims at emphasizing the interest and potential of Linear Parameter Varying methods within the framework of vehicle dynamics, e.g. proposed control-oriented model, complex enough to handle some system non linearities but still simple for control or observer design, take into account the adaptability of the vehicle's response to driving situations, to the driver request and/or to the road sollicitations, manage interactions between various actuators to optimize the dynamic behavior of vehicles. This book results from the 32th International Summer School in Automatic that held in Grenoble, France, in September 2011, where recent methods (based on robust control and LPV technics), then applied to the control of vehicle dynamics, have been presented. After some theoretical background and a view on some recent works on LPV approaches (for modelling, analysis, control, observation and diagnosis), the main emphasis is put on road vehicles but some illustrations are concerned with railway, aerospace and underwater vehicles. The main objective of the book is to demonstrate the value of this approach for controlling the dynamic behavior of vehicles. It presents, in a rm way, background and new results on LPV methods and their application to vehicle dynamics.

A practical methodology for designing integrated automation control for systems and processes Implementing digital control within mechanical-electronic (mechatronic) systems is essential to respond to the growing demand for high-efficiency machines and processes. In practice, the most efficient digital control often integrates time-driven and event-driven characteristics within a single control scheme. However, most of the current engineering literature on the design of digital control systems presents discrete-time systems and discrete-event systems separately. Control Of Mechatronic Systems: Model-Driven Design And Implementation Guidelines unites the two systems, revisiting the concept of automated control by presenting a unique practical methodology for whole-system integration. With its innovative hybrid approach to the modeling, analysis, and design of control systems, this text provides material for mechatronic engineering and process automation courses, as well as for self-study across engineering disciplines. Real-life design problems and automation case studies help readers transfer theory to practice, whether they are building single machines or large-scale industrial systems. Presents a novel approach to the integration of discrete-time and discrete-event systems within mechatronic systems and industrial processes Offers user-friendly self-study units, with worked examples and numerous real-world exercises in each chapter Covers a range of engineering disciplines and applies to small- and large-scale systems, for broad appeal in research and practice Provides a firm theoretical foundation allowing readers to comprehend the underlying technologies of mechatronic systems and processes Control Of Mechatronic Systems is an important text for advanced students and professionals of all levels engaged in a broad range of engineering disciplines.

L'ETUDE QUE NOUS PRESENTONS ICI PORTE SUR LES TECHNIQUES GENERIQUES DE CONCEPTION ET DE PILOTAGE DES VEHICULES AUTONOMES SOUS-MARINS DE TRES GRANDE PROFONDEUR (OU AUVS) CAPABLES DE SUIVRE UN FOND MARIN A UNE DISTANCE DONNEE. LES PROBLEMES AUXQUELS NOUS NOUS INTERESSONS SONT DUAUX: TROUVER DES ARCHITECTURES DE MOTORISATION ET DE PERCEPTION (PAR CAPTEURS D'ALTITUDE) ADAPTEES A UN PROFIL DE MISSION DONNE. TROUVER DES LOIS DE COMMANDE REFERENCEE CAPTEURS PERMETTANT DE RESPECTER LES CONTRAINTES OPERATIONNELLES DE LA CHARGE UTILE EMBARQUEE. APRES UNE PREMIERE PARTIE DEDIEE A LA MODELISATION D'UN TEL SYSTEME DYNAMIQUE INTERAGISSANT AVEC SON ENVIRONNEMENT, OU LES NON-LINEARITES ET LA MECONNAISSANCE DE CERTAINS TERMES SONT RELEVEES, NOUS NOUS SOMMES INTERESSES A L'ETUDE DES DIFFERENTES CONFIGURATIONS D'EVOLUTION A PRIVILEGIER ET DE L'ARCHITECTURE OPTIMALE DES ACTIONNEURS UTILISABLES (LEST MOBILE, SURFACES MOBILES, PROPULSEUR A HELICE, ET CYLINDRE MAGNUS) SUR LA BASE D'UN CRITERE LIE A UN RENDEMENT ENERGETIQUE. NOUS NOUS FOCALISONS ENSUITE SUR L'ETUDE D'UNE ARCHITECTURE MINIMALE ADEQUATE DE CAPTEURS SUIVANT LES MISSIONS AFFECTEES AU VEHICULE. CETTE ETUDE REPOSE SUR LA NOTION DE LIAISON VIRTUELLE QUI PEUT ETRE CREEE ENTRE UN CAPTEUR ET L'ENVIRONNEMENT. ENFIN, NOUS ETUDIONS DES LOIS DE COMMANDE REFERENCEE CAPTEURS (CRC) POUR DES SOUS-MARINS DONT LA MISSION EST LE SUIVI D'UN FOND MARIN A PRIORI INCONNU ET QUELCONQUE, POUVANT PRESENTER AUSSI BIEN DES PARTIES CONTINUES QUE DES CRETES ET DES COINS ABRUPTS, A L'AIDE DE CAPTEURS D'ALTITUDE. LES TROIS GRANDES CLASSES DE VEHICULES SOUS-MARINS ACTUELLEMENT EXISTANTS SONT ETUDIEES: LES VEHICULES ENTIEREMENT ACTIONNES SUR LES 6 DEGRES DE LIBERTE POSSIBLES. CEUX PRESENTANT DES ACTIONNEURS LATERAUX EN PLAN CANARD. LES VEHICULES AVEC UNE SEULE PAIRE D'ACTIONNEURS SITUEE A L'ARRIERE. SI DES COMMANDES EN VITESSE SONT PROPOSEES POUR LES DEUX PREMIERES CLASSES CITEES, UNE COMMANDE DYNAMIQUE EST ETUDIEE POUR LA DERNIERE, OU LES INCERTITUDES DYNAMIQUES DU MODELE ET DES ACTIONNEURS SONT PRISES EN COMPTE

This textbook presents the core of recent advances in design theory and its implications for design methods and design organization. Providing a unified perspective on different design methods and approaches, from the most classic (systematic design) to the most advanced (C-K theory), it offers a unique and integrated presentation of traditional and contemporary theories in the field. Examining the principles of each theory, this guide utilizes numerous real life industrial applications, with clear links to engineering design, industrial design, management, economics, psychology and creativity. Containing a section of exams with detailed answers, it is useful for courses in design theory, engineering design and advanced innovation management. "Students and professors, practitioners and researchers in diverse disciplines, interested in design, will find in this book a rich and vital source for studying fundamental design methods and tools as well as the most advanced design theories that work in practice". Professor Yoram Reich, Tel Aviv University, Editor-in-Chief, Research In Engineering Design. "Twenty years of research in design theory and engineering have shown that training in creative design is indeed possible and offers remarkably operational methods - this book is indispensable for all leaders and practitioners who wish to strengthen theinnovation capacity of their company." Pascal Daloz, Executive Vice President, Dassault Systèmes
