Excerpt from Constitution, by-Laws and Rules of Order of Red Bluff Lodge, No; 76: Independent Order of Odd Fellows of the State of California; Instituted at Red Bluff, May 31st, 1858 State of California. It cannot voluntarily surren der its Charter, or dissolve, so long as five brothers in good standing object thereto. Article II. OF membership. Section 1. All candidates for initiation must be free white males, of the age of twenty-one years and upward, of sound health, of good moral char acter and industrious habits, having some known respectable means of support, and believe in the existence of a Supreme Being, the Creator and Preserver of the Universe, and be proposed in' the Lodge nearest his residence, except that Lodge grant permission for his joining anoth'er Lodge; provided, that application for membership may be made to any Lodge nearest the residence of the applicant, in the same county or district. A per son may be admitted to any Lodge in the city or village in which he resides; but all candidates for initiation must reside in'this jurisdiction, except such candidates as may apply from other States or Territories where there is no Grand Lodge or Dis triot Deputy Grand Sire located.
