Conservation and Sustainability in Historic Cities examines how the two key issues of urban conservation and sustainability relate to each other in the context of historic cities, and how they can be brought together in a common philosophy and practice that is mutually supportive. With majority of the Earth’s people now urban dwellers, and cities being the most efficient habitat for the utilisation of resources, it is imperative that we continue to support standards of living and efficiencies of urban areas. However, the urbanisation process has not been without its problems. While much has been done to address the original issues surrounding the quality of urban life, new challenges continue to arise.
