This volume of proceedings contains papers by computer graphics researchers, developers and practitioners. The papers report on the latest advances and new ideas in computer graphics. They also discuss future directions in the field. The volume reflects the aim of the conference to promote computer graphics research activities in the Pacific region.

Pacific Graphics is an international conference on computer graphics and applications. The conference will provide a forum for researchers, developers, and practitioners to exchange ideas and discuss future directions of computer graphics. The past two conferences were held in Korea (1993) and China (1994), and future conferences are planned in Taiwan (1996), Korea (1997), and Singapore (1998).

This series of conferences has been organized to reflect the significant development of computer graphics in the Pacific Rim countries. PG '94 took place in China and attracted 210 papers, 50 of which were reviewed by an international set of referees and 21 of which are included in this volume, along with three invited papers. The selected papers are subdivided into five topics: modeling surfaces and deformations, image synthesis, computer animation, CAD, and image analysis and volume rendering.

This book presents the refereed proceedings of the EP'98 and RIDT'98 conferences, held jointly during the Second International Week on Electronic Publishing and Typography in St. Malo, France, in March/April 1998. The 43 revised full papers presented were carefully selected for inclusion in the book. Among the topics covered are artistic imaging, tools and methods in typography, non-latin type, typographic creation, imaging, character recognition, handwriting models, legibility and design issues, fonts and design, time and multimedia, electronic and paper documents, document engineering, documents and linguistics, document reuse, hypertext and the Web, and hypertext creation and management.
