This report presents an explanation and description of the county-wide Comprehensive General Land Use Plan proposed for Marion County. The plan includes all land, urban and rural, and encompasses all of the political jurisdictions within the county. It provides a comprehensive statement of policy which will guide future development and redevelopment of land use areas.

This volume, and a Volume II which will deal with community services, comprise the background analysis and description of the past growth and related physical and social problems in the Metropolitan area, and evaluation of the present problems, and a prediction of changing patterns and conditions that may occur in the future.

This report consists of tables listing the distribution of residential land acreage among the IRTADS subzones for the nine townships that comprise Marion County, Indiana.

The purpose of this report is to provide information regarding major development activity in Marion County since 1978 (the date of adoption of the present Comprehensive Plan). It is intended to be used by the Metropolitan Development Commission, elected and appointed officials of local government, and the citizens serving on the various advisory committees in assessing the need for and extent of change to the present Comprehensive Plan.
