Iron deficiency anemia is a very common occurrence in premenopausal women and is usually attributed to blood loss from menses, and not further evaluated. However, in the postmenopausal female, gastrointestinal lesions that account for the iron deficiency are found in approximately 7O% of patients. In the premenopausal group of women, no study has been performed to look at the incidence of gastrointestinal lesions and their potential relation to the iron deficiency. We propose to evaluate premenopausal women with iron deficiency anemia, with upper and lower endoscopy to document the incidence of gastrointestinal lesions in this population.

Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis· seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) *at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac· tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 20 (thesis year 1975) a total of 10,374 theses titles from 28 Canadian and 239 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. The organization of Volume 20 is identical to that of past years. It consists of theses titles arranged by discipline and by university within each discipline.

This collection of essays explores concepts present in literatures in French that, since the 2007 manifesto, more and more critics, suspicious of the term Francophonie, now prefer to designate as littérature-monde (world literature). The book shows how the three movements of antillanité, créolité and littérature-monde each in their own way break with the past and distance themselves from the hexagonal centre. The critics in this collection show how writers seek to represent an authentic view of their history, culture, identities, reality and diversities. According to many of the contributors, creolization and littérature-monde offer new perspectives and possibly a new genre of literature. During the second half of the 20th century, the Caribbean island of Barbados emerged as a key player in the creation and nurturing of Caribbean popular music. And, yet, despite its vital role in the popularization of tuk music, the rise of spouge, and the Barbadian contribution to and transformation of other Carribean music traditions, there is still relatively little sustained critical literature that discusses the various strands of the island's music culture.
