Thomas Martin, Civil Engineer, compiled and edited THE CIRCLE OF THE MECHANICAL ARTS in 1813. Martin drew upon his personal expertise, and, with the assistance of professional Mechanics and Manufacturers, produced in a single, affordable volume a comprehensive guide to the trades and manufactures that typified early 19th century British industrialization. THE CIRCLE OF THE MECHANICAL ARTS covers 66 trades and manufactures, from carpentry & joinery to pin-making, button-making, cotton manufacture, mining and gun-making. Each extensive chapter was authored by an expert in the field. THE CIRCLE OF THE MECHANICAL ARTS includes the original 39 engraved plates in full color. The text portion, at over 690 pages, was professionally imaged in facsimile from the original book in the collection of Gary Roberts, Publisher - The Toolemera Press.
