It has also been my habit to converse freely with the interpreters of either book; and thus have arisen in my mind two conviction 8, which further experience only strengthens. The first is, that the methods of interpretation employed by scientific men are, generally speaking, better suited for the dis covery of truth than the methods adopted by theologians. The second is, that those who are conversant with scientific method, and at the same time are in sympathy with the Christian ideas, can render good service by drawing attention to the paramount importance of the Inductive process of reasoning.
