The Chinese Yearbook of Human Rights is co-sponsored by the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, and three institutes under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences – the Institute of Law, the Centre for Human Rights Studies and the Centre for International Law Studies. The purpose of the Chinese Yearbook of Human Rights is to create a forum for the academic exchange between China and the international community in the field of human rights. Accordingly, the Yearbook will aim to publish high quality academic articles written by scholars from both China and other countries on human rights issues from perspectives of law, philosophy, political science, history, and international relations.

The Chinese Yearbook of Human Rights is a forum for academic exchange between China and the international community in the field of human rights. It publishes peer reviewed articles by scholars and practitioners from both within and outside China on human rights issues, from the perspectives of law, philosophy, political science, history, international relations and other relevant academic disciplines. The Yearbook was originally founded in cooperation with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, but fell silent from 2008 onwards. It now has a new editorial team, consisting of internationally based human rights scholars and a team of editors at the Institute for Human Rights of the China University of Political Science and Law and the Center for Human Rights Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Volume 6, 2024 focuses on the topical issues of the interpretation and implementation of the right to peace, the right to work, and the right to education. Several other issues, such as international human rights mechanisms, business and human rights, climate change litigation, poverty alleviation, and anti-domestic violence, are also covered.

In this first systematic examination of the role of the top United Nations human rights official, editors Felice Gaer and Christen Broecker analyze the achievements, leadership styles of, and obstacles encountered by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and propose recommendations for the future. The editors are joined by 18 expert contributors including present and former UN policymakers, human rights practitioners, legal scholars, and current High Commissioner Navi Pillay. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights: Conscience for the World examines how the six individuals who have served in this post have worked to end atrocities, hold perpetrators of abuses to account, promote equality and justice, and provide protection and redress to victims.

The 2015 Inter-American Yearbook on Human Rights provides an extract of the principal jurisprudence of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Part One contains the Decisions on the Merits of the Commission, and Part Two the Judgments and Decisions of the Court. The Yearbook is published as an English-Spanish bilingual edition. The print edition is available as a set of three volumes (9789004338524).

This volume of The China Legal Development Yearbook is the fourth in a series of annual reports written by leading Chinese law and legal policy scholars and judges to appear in English translation. It is edited by scholars at the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
