Lower extremity fractures and deformities in children and adolescents are a heterogeneous group of conditions caused by a variety of diseases, ranging from the hip joint to the foot. While some are caused by known trauma, others may be a consequence of developmental disorders or mutations in various genes. The presenting symptoms and signs may vary from cosmetic findings to the dysfunction of the limb, except fractures. Despite advances in diagnosis and treatment, there is still a lack of understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of many of these conditions.
