Born in San Bernardino, California, the author enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately after his high school graduation and served as a radioman. Later he attended Mt. San Antonio College, and following graduation there he earned his Bachelor’s Degree (Social Sciences) at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. Wilkins has always taken a keen interest in social issues. In Santa Ana, California, he founded Catholic Americans for Peace Through Strength. In the early 1990s he actively participated in Right to Life, and in 1996 he joined the Indiana Citizens Volunteer Militia, where he served as an officer until 2002.

This volume offers eleven essays on colonial British North America and the American Revolution. Part I of the collection includes essays on aspects of the Revolution that reflect Gipson's interests, while the essays in Part II deal with social history.

George Bigbie was living in North Farnham, Richmond County, Virginia as early as the 1730s. He was married twice and was the father of four children. Two of his children were Archibald Bigbie (b. 1734) who married Lydia Calvert (1748-1819) and was the father three children, and George Bigbie (1736-1778) who married Catherine and was the father of five children. Their descendants live in Virginia and other parts of the United States.
