This book presents an approach to using drama therapy treatment providers who work with adult or adolescent sexual abusers and violent offenders. People attend plays for catharsis and vicarious experience, to feel through performance without harming self or others. The same principle applies to drama therapy -- role-play ignites "in-the-moment" responses that simulate real-life behavior and emotion for examination and contemplation in a safe, therapeutic environment. The book presents a variety of exercises range from warm-ups to low- and high-intensity activities, and include calming and cooling exercises as well. The focus is on using the proper exercise for the client's stage in treatment and emotional ability to participate. Information accompanies each exercise regarding the number of clients and amount of time needed to implement.

Motivation to learn plays a critical role in students' academic success. This dissertation reports five experiments (N = 250) that increase children's motivation (specifically, challenge seeking and persistence) through storybooks. The first two studies examined how manipulating the similarity between the main character of a story and the participating child affected preschoolers' (Study 1) and kindergarteners' (Study 2) motivation as assessed by the choice of and persistence on challenging puzzles. Study 2 also compared effects for struggling versus non-struggling students. Study 3 examined whether persuasion would increase challenge seeking, when children convince someone else of the value of taking on challenges and persisting. Study 4 examined effects over time, and found that children showed a robust boost in challenge seeking two weeks later, especially those who were reminded of the original book. Study 5 examined whether the effects could be due to a particular aspect of the books, process praise, which sends a message that effort and persistence are effective and valued. Increasing children's motivation at a young age may set the stage for future academic achievement, creating a cycle of positive motivation and academic success.

"The Age of Agility: Building Learning Agile Leaders and Organizations focuses on learning agility, one of the most important trends in the business world during the past decade. Some surveys have found it was the most frequently used criterion to measure leadership potential. Despite this popularity there are fundamental questions that need to be answered such as (a) What specifically is learning agility? (b) How many facets or dimensions does it have? (c) How do we measure it? and (d) Can it be developed? It appears that much of what is known about the construct of learning agility has been gleaned from its application by practitioners. While this knowledge is an extremely useful place to begin, there is an urgent need to undergird this understanding with science. The purpose of this edited book is to systematically examine the construct through a more scholarly lens. Over 50 authors - both academic researchers and talent management practitioners - have contributed to the contents. The goal is to enhance knowledge of learning agility, distilling and synthesizing scientific evidence with best practices"--
