Excerpt from General Catalogue of the Officers, Teachers and Students of the State Normal School, Salem: 1854-1904 This general catalogue is based upon the one issued in 1887, which was prepared under the auspices of the Salem Normal Association by Mrs. Mary N. (plumer) Hawken, of the fourteenth class, for many years a teacher in the school. Fresh information has been sought on every hand, by every device that could be thought of and from all available sources; still it is known to be very incomplete, and undoubtedly it contains numerous errors. Its publi cation may bring into the hands of the principal of the school many correo tions, which will be welcomed for the card index of former students.
