Excerpt from Catalog of Officers, Graduates, and Nongraduates of Smith College, Northampton, Mass., 1875-1915: With Report of the Alumnae Association of Smith College for 1914-1915 In May, 1915, blanks prepared by a joint committee of the Association of collegiate alumnae and the Intercollegiate bureau of occupations in New York were sent to all graduates and former students. This blank was used by nine other colleges cooperating in the plan for a census of college women. During August and September postal reminders were sent to graduates whose blanks had not been returned. Many of these responded and for the others information was sought from various sources, such as back numbers of the Smith Alumnae Quarterly, class reunion books, and newspaper items. When no biographical information has been received since 1910, the last occupation is indicated as ceasing with that year, though in many cases it may still continue.
