Designed to meet the needs of wide-ability classes, the Camarades French course is divided into four units and fulfils the criteria of the National Curriculum/5-14 Guidelines, fully preparing all pupils for GCSE/Standard Grade examinations. The Teacher's Book contains an overview of each unit; offers clear, concise teaching notes; provides notes for the four assessment sections and the answers to all Pupil's Book exercises; and comprises tapescripts in sequence that are highlighted for ease of reference.

The Teacher's Resource File supplements the core work covered in the Students'Book with extension and support work, thus giving the opportunity for further differentiation. Self-access answers to worksheet activities are provided in Riponses sheets. The Vocabulaire 1 sheet provides, for all students, a reference for the key language of the Phrases-clis boxes on the spreads, presenting it in the context of whole sentences, with English translations. The Vocabulaire 2 sheet in the form of single vocabulary items gives more able students access to an extended range of language, again with an English translation. The File contains visuals (Presentation sheets) which can be printed onto OHP acetates. These are particularly useful for presenting and practising new items of vocabulary. Four separate Assessment tests are provided at intervals throughout the course, each one divided into the four National Curriculum Attainment Targets - Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. A suggested allocation of marks for each test is given on the assessment sheet. Teacher's notes, tape transcripts and mark schemes are found in the Teacher's Book.

At Years 10/11/S3-S4, Camarades offers complete preparation for public exams, specifically GCSE, but also Scottish Standard Grade and GCSE exams in Northern Ireland.
