Assessing fifty years of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), passed in 1966, this volume examines the impact of this key piece of legislation on heritage practices in the United States. The book will focus on international and national regulation of industrial heritage sites, from an eminently practical viewpoint it will include studies of the Unesco rules, European Union regulation and Spanish law. It will then centre on a practical application of the law to the preservation of the industrial heritage of the Valencia region, with special emphasis on two major sites: The Sagunto Cement Factory and the Traditional Methods of Production for the Production of Ceramic Tiles.
