Sinkankas is the prime authority on gemology (author of Gem Cutting, Gemstones of North America, Beryl, Emerald...) and an expert gem cutter. He is eminently competent to present the critical remarks upon the 7,458 books here given meticulous description, synopsis, and criticism. Sinkankas owned most of these titles (his library was sold to the Gemological Institute of America) and has continued to handle other copies in his bookselling capacity.
