Augustana missionary publicity is grouped chronologically under the heading of the mission executive at the time, O.J. Johnson and S. Hjalmar Swanson. One folder, entitled "Stories about the Lutheran Augustana Synod, which can be used as illustrations in public speeches, 1923" is not particularly related to foreign missions, but seems to be a personal project of executive director S. This series comprises financial reports from 1962-1972 for the Lutheran Church in America's (LCA) Board of World Missions (BWM). These printed reports include yearly audits from 1963-1972, summary financial reports published in the convention bulletins for 1966 and 1968, and a 1962 analysis of the financial operations of the foreign mission boards for the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Lutheran Church in America. This last information was to be used in developing a financial system for the BWM. For each type of report, the accounting firm of Tait, Weller & Baker, Certified Public Accountants, Philadelphia-New York, conducted the analysis.

This series comprises typewritten minutes of the executive committee for the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church's Board of Foreign/World Missions for 1923-1962. These minutes were generated through the course of business of the executive committee which was charged with attending to administrative matters pertaining to foreign missions in between the times when the board would meet. Many times these matters involved personnel and financial issues.
