How and why has God spoken to us? Answering these questions involves the immense topic of divine revelation. Our purpose in this book is to provide a biblical study of the various types and purposes of the myriad of different methods of divine revelation. In the process we endeavor to answer such critical and controversial questions as: - How do we know when God is 'speaking'? - What has been the progression of divine revelation? - What are the only two methods of revelation that God uses to communicate to all of humanity? - Why is Scripture so authoritative and sufficient for the Christian life? - What are the several vital but often neglected ways that God "speaks" to us apart from Scripture? - How does God expect us to make decisions and does He have a "personal" will for our lives that cannot be found in Scripture? - Does God "speak" to us by planting thoughts in our mind?

This in-depth treatise presents conclusive evidence for an extremely close relationship between ancient Egyptian religious beliefs and the Book of Revelation. Practically all characters, scenes and series of scenes found in Revelation have parallels in mainstream Egyptian sources, including the Book of the Dead, the Amduat, Book of Gates, Book of Aker, Books of the Heavens and others. Parallel characters include Egypt's Apophis as Revelation's Satan while situations and activities in scenes include the judgment scene and singers by a lake of fire. Parallel sequences of scenes include those found in the 2nd to 12th Divisions of the Book of Gates and most of Revelation's Chapters 15-21. Allusions to the Book of Dead are common. Finally, a key conclusion: the entire structure of the Book of Revelation can be accounted for in the organization of text and paintings on the walls and ceilings of the tomb of Ramesses VI in Egypt's Valley of the Kings. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we sometimes don't realize how unique much of our doctrine is on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The Lord revealed through the young Prophet Joseph Smith important truths that had been lost regarding our Redeemer's great sacrifice. Were Adam and Eve forgiven for the Fall? Is it possible that there will be two separate resurrections? Will we inherit our Heavenly Father's kingdom? The answers to these truths are familiar to most Latter-day Saints today. However, there was a time when these revelations were not widely available; a time when Satan was desperately trying to keep these revolutionary truths buried in darkness. A first of its kind, Chad Morris's book New Light on the Atonement focuses on the first two years of the organized Church and the events surrounding the revelations that we now take for granted. Readers now have the opportunity to gain a greater knowledge of Joseph Smith and the restored truths that came through him regarding the most important sacrifice of all time, the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

A profound exploration of the Bible's most controversial book—from the author of Beyond Belief and The Gnostic Gospels The strangest book of the New Testament, filled with visions of the Rapture, the whore of Babylon, and apocalyptic writing of the end of times, the Book of Revelation has fascinated readers for more than two thousand years, but where did it come from? And what are the meanings of its surreal images of dragons, monsters, angels, and cosmic war? Elaine Pagels, New York Times bestselling author and "the preeminent voice of biblical scholarship to the American public" (The Philadelphia Inquirer), elucidates the true history of this controversial book, uncovering its origins and the roots of dissent, violence, and division in the world's religions. Brilliantly weaving scholarship with a deep understanding of the human needs to which religion speaks, Pagels has written what may be the masterwork of her unique career.
