John Roper, Sr. (b.ca.1588) and his family emigrated from England to Dedham, Massachusetts in 1637, where he died soon after 1664. Descendants lived in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota, South Dakota and elsewhere. Some descendants and relatives lived in Nova Scotia, Québec and elsewhere in Canada.
