The PM Teacher's Guide Ruby Level provides suggestions for small-group teaching using the twelve chapter books, six non-fiction titles and the anthology of fiction, non fiction and poetry. In January 1, 1885, Wells, Fargo & Company's chief detective James B. Hume and special agent John N. Thacker published a report summarizing the company's losses during the previous 14 years. It listed 313 stagecoach robberies, 23 burglaries, and four train robberies but included little or no details of the events themselves, focusing instead on physical descriptions of the robbers. Widely circulated, the report was intended to assist law enforcement in identifying and apprehending the criminals believed still to present a danger to the company. Kevin is a police officer and his wife Carla is a school teacher, whose roles complement each others, and blends with their opposite functions; Kevin’s role is to maintain law and order in his community and in the streets he polices, while Carla’s role is to maintain learning and behavioral discipline among her young students in her classroom. Douglas, who worked as a Postal Worker, and Lydia, a Registered Nurse, made their living providing a service to the public. Carla knew that most parents entrust her with their children to educate them as she is to monitor their behavior and learning skills. She saw herself held responsible by parents for their grown-up actions in the classroom as she is with their learning from her what is good and what is not, and teaches them how to learn.
