Donna Rowlette is devoted to educating others on how they must go through a biblical transformation process to become Christ-like. Her mission is to inform Christians that Christ-like thinking must be intentionally cultivated. She served 25 years as a police officer and 20 years in the military (mostly as a citizen soldier). Currently, Donna serves as the Director of the Criminal Justice Information System for the state in which she resides. 1 Corinthians 3:6 (NIV) states, "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow." When Donna was about to graduate from high school she felt hopeless. Fortunately, Donna had a high school teacher who saw something in her that she did not see in herself. The teacher enrolled Donna in a Summer at Notre Dame: Academic and Leadership Skills, a program designed to prepare young women to be successful in college. Although she was apprehensive, Donna attended the program and earned her very first college credit in Story & Film with one of her lowest college grades ever, a "C". That "C" was a seed planted in rocky soil but sure enough, God has been making it grow. Donna went on to earn an Associate of Arts in General Studies and an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Catonsville Community College. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Technology and Management from the University of Maryland University College. Donna earned a Master of Science in Management from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Arts in Ministry from Lancaster Bible College. If asked, Donna would enthusiastically state that her degree in management equipped her to improve processes while her degree in ministry equipped her to serve people. Today, Donna is a servant leader who loves to teach Bible study.

Pastor John MacArthur will take you through the two short letters to Timothy, passage by passage, so that you can better understand Paul's instructions to church leaders and the cultural context that makes these letters so relevant today. Timothy was a close associate of Paul who was facing problems within the church that he was leading in Ephesus. In these personal letters, Paul gives practical pastoral instruction to his protégé, highlighting godliness and holy living to help Timothy fulfill his calling and effectively carry out his important tasks in the church. Paul's gentle encouragement in these letters challenges Timothy to persevere in his faith—a faith that might have been weakening under the pressure of the church and the persecution of the world. Paul's godly counsel was helpful not only to Timothy, a first-century Christian leader, but is also helpful to each of us as believers today. —ABOUT THE SERIES— The MacArthur Bible Study series is designed to help you study the Word of God with guidance from widely respected pastor and author John MacArthur.
