These are some of the adventures of a Kansas farm boy, who tried to live life. He met and married a California girl who was the love of his life and she was a woman, a lady and a woman of God, who lived life with him. Through the many adventures, some dangerous and/or life threatening, he felt that God was there and looking out for him, for reasons known only to God. He claims to be nothing special, quite the contrary. His travels took him to far off and exotic places, Panama, Latin America, Mexico, Hawaii, Guam, Philippines, Viet Nam, Taiwan, Germany, Italy, Greece, Ethiopia, Spain, France and California. Horses, motorcycles, war, law enforcement, hunting, people, kids and the love of a good woman are all a part of his story. When his wife was diagnosed with liver cancer and God chose to take her home, in his searching for understanding and peace of mind, he started writing as a form of coping, and turned to God for understanding. God provided the understanding in the form of a 4-year-old child. This 4-year-old girl is the Symbol of God's Love and being a child is the Symbol of Hope for all of us. Through the many encounters, God and Kate looked out for and took care of him. Hence, the title God, Kate, and I.

The Thicket opens into intimate encounters with the more-than-human world—rivers, birds, stones—and with a “you” that is not a person, necessarily, but also not not a person: maybe God, maybe an aspect of the self, maybe neither or both. Often speaking of/to the small or overlooked (weeds by a roadside, an abandoned silo), the poems orient themselves toward edges, transitional spaces like the one where fields shift into woods. Where does one body stop? The Thicket takes an interest in becoming, one thing flowing into something else. Excerpt from “At Cape Henlopen” All night wind insists in the trees, its unsteady hush funneling us down into sleep under the tender shelter the oaks, even leafless, make—all night their trunks creak and sigh and speak. Speak to me—I think the word protect until its edges dissolve, inside the tent that wraps us like another, thinner skin, rocked and chastened by the wind that doesn’t cease . . .

In 2027 the world is in the midst of serious climate change and desperate energy needs. In 2035 after years of research scientists finally create a new power system designed to pull energy from a Transient Null Dimension. When the system is finally powered up, the world rejoices for this new unlimited power now being supplied to the world. For all of 22 days. On that 22nd day, the energy being pulled from this Null Dimension causes another world to be pulled into our dimension causing our earth and this other world to co-exist in the same space and time, along with the terrible life forms of that world. The results was sheer chaos as millions died and earthly infrastructures were destroyed. Scientists figured out how to stop this merging of worlds, ending it and sending this other world back to its own space and time. Yet this act also has its consequences, for now, mankind has to figure out how to survive, "After The Merge."
