This study provides an overview of the use of natural health products (NHPs) and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) treatments in Canada. It discusses how NHPs and complementary health practitioners are currently regulated in Canada and examines the validity of the public safety argument for licensing natural health products and complementary and alternative medicine practitioners, as well as the costs of government regulation.
