Integration of data from reflection seismic, borehole geophysical logs, lithology, and foraminiferal biostratigraphy revealed the need to revise previous stratigraphic correlations of Barremian to Albian strata in the subsurface of the south Mackenzie Delta and in the vicinity of Parsons Lake, Northwest Territories.

This study encompassess the area from about latitude 65° N to the Beaufort Sea and from longitude 132° W to the Alaska border, and includes Cretaceous strata in the northern Richardson, northern Ogilvie and British mountains, and in the subsurface under the Mackenzie Delta and Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula.

Study of the Mesozoic and younger strata of the Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula, northeast of the Mackenzie Delta, Northwest Territories, which form a complex system of horst and grabens.

The area covered in this study extends from the northwesternmost part of Yukon eastward into the Richardson Mountains and under the Mackenzie Delta. The investigation aims to expand on previous stratigraphic studies and proposes formal nomenclature for unnamed parts of the Permian succession in the area. Information is provided on the Permian and Triassic stratigraphy and lithology of the area. Correlations between the various occurrences in the study area are attempted as well as more regional correlations with Permian and Triassic strata in the Yukon, mainland Northwest Territories, and adjacent Alaska. Paleogeographic reconstructions and the economic potential of Permian and Triassic strata in the study area are also discussed.
