While most current texts on the coronary artery include only a single chapter on anomalies, this is the first of its kind to focus on the challenges involved with imaging coronary artery anomalies in infants. Since the appearance of coronary artery anomalies is dramatically different in infants with commonly associated congenital heart disease, unique techniques and careful timing are required for imaging these 1-2 mm blood vessels. Additionally, many coronary anomalies are not commonly seen because the infants don’t survive past childhood. Comprised of hundreds of anomalies in infants collected over a number of years, this atlas includes 3d color-coded images, surgical reports, angiograms, CTs and MRIs, as well as detailed instructions for performing coronary CTAs in infants. The 3d models also show the relation of coronary anomalies with congenital heart disease. Atlas of Pediatric CTA of Coronary Artery Anomalies is a timely resource for pediatric cardiologists, pediatric radiologists, fellows and residents who wish to improve their skill set when faced the dual challenges of the size of the patient and the associated complex congenital heart disease seen with the coronary anomalies. This atlas is also a valuable resource for medical students, physician assistants and nurse practitioners in pediatric cardiology and pediatric radiology.

The second edition of this important work provides a broad range of cardiac CT angiography (CCTA) cases covering normal anatomy, congenital coronary anomalies, coronary artery disease, percutaneous coronary intervention, postsurgical coronary revascularization, and extra-coronary abnormalities. It is designed to help practicing radiologists, cardiologists, and cardiothoracic surgeons understand the current issues involved with clinical, interventional, and surgical management of coronary artery CTA. Each case consists of detailed CCTA images, a brief history, diagnosis, discussion, and pearls and pitfalls. This updated and expanded edition includes new chapters on principles of cardiac CT, patient preparation, cardiomyopathies, pediatric cardiac CT, cardiac CT in the emergency department, CT-FFR, and reporting cardiac CT.

Atlas of Pediatric Cardiac CTA is a concise visual guide to the imaging of congenital heart disease in infants and children. The book focuses on the utilization of cardiac CTA imaging for pediatric patients as distinct from adult patients, with an emphasis on techniques for retrospective and prospective scanning, reduction of the radiation dose, and CT data processing and analysis. It also describes cardiac CTA evaluation search patterns to assess the complex anatomy in congenital heart patients. As pediatric patients often present with multiple findings, separate chapters are devoted to the major structures of the cardiovascular system, accompanied with extensive imaging examples of the atria, ventricles, great vessels, coronary arteries, lungs and airways, and the situs. The book concludes with a review of shunts, procedures, and surgeries used in the management of this disorder. Atlas of Pediatric Cardiac CTA is a valuable resource for radiologists, cardiologists, and other clinicians involved in the care of pediatric patients with congenital heart disease.

The aims and scope of this atlas include a complete review of the embryology of the normal heart, the normal cardiac anatomy along with a complete discussion of the terms and definitions used to identify and clarify both normal and abnormal anatomy. In addition, techniques of cardiac CT angiography as it pertains to imaging congenital abnormalities are discussed including radiation concepts and radiation saving techniques. The bulk of this book then goes on to completely review the field of adult congenital heart disease using text and more importantly a multitude of pictorial examples (in color and grey scale) to demonstrate the abnormalities. Drawings accompany each picture to better explain the example. Furthermore, difficult and complex anatomical examples are supplemented with digital images and movies to aid in illustrating and understanding the anatomy. Each general set of anomalies as well as each specific abnormality or set of abnormalities includes a concise and simple review of the embryology and epidemiology of the abnormality as well as a concise explanation of the anatomy of the abnormality. In addition, the methods to identify and recognize the abnormality by computed tomography is discussed. Finally, the prognosis and common treatment options for the anomaly are addressed within this comprehensive book.

This case-based atlas encompasses all aspects of imaging in congenital cardiac defects, cardiac masses, inflammatory and acquired heart diseases, cardiomyopathies and coronary-related pathologies. The chapters begin with a description of the imaging approach, followed by cases comprehensively covering the gamut of clinical scenarios that may be encountered in clinical practice. The atlas provides pertinent information about each discussed disease state, its imaging diagnosis and recent advances, including role of radiology in management, follow up and prognostication. Cases that may pose as imaging differentials accompany the index case, followed by a variety of companion cases illustrating the possible spectrum of abnormalities that the reader may be confronted with while dealing with the index case. It acts as a guide for the cardiovascular radiologist, physician, paediatrician, internist, cardiologist, cardiothoracic surgeon as well as radiology residents for inculcating an evidence-based approach for choosing the right imaging algorithm in the given clinical situation. The highly visual design of the atlas enables it to act as a quick and ready reference.

The coronaries are the first branches of the ascending aorta. They arise from their respective sinuses of Valsalva, and gradually branch distally to the myocardium. Abnormalities of the coronary arteries, either congenital or acquired, can be characterized as a lack of origin, abnormal origin, anomalous course, lack of patency, abnormal connections, and/or abnormal drainage of the coronary vessels. Interruptions to or lack of flow can cause significant morbidity and mortality due to ischemia, infarction and fistulous connections, which can lead to cardiac failure, endocarditis and ischemia. Coronary artery anomalies are rare in general populations. Although they can be benign and asymptomatic, they can also be malignant due to their origin and course and can cause sudden cardiac death. As such, an understanding of how to analyze, diagnose and treat them is vital. This book presents the latest advances in congenital anomalies of coronary arteries. It offers a comprehensive overview of the field, including illustrative angiograms and diagrams that demonstrate all possible anomalies and clarify what is abnormal, and also provides practical insights to guide practitioners in their everyday practice.
