L'objectif de cette étude est de recenser les pratiques lors des suivis de reproduction réalisés par les vétérinaires et les attentes des éleveurs. 128 vétérinaires et 124 éleveurs ont répondu au questionnaire. L'organisation du suivi n'a pas beaucoup évolué dans le déroulé des visites. Le développement des outils informatiques et l'apport d'une vision globale par le vétérinaire sont les grandes avancées de ces dernières années. Le développement du suivi de reproduction dans les années à venir est une volonté de la majorité des praticiens qui proposent ce type de suivi. Pour développer ce service, il est nécessaire de passer par une étape de démarche marketing. Celle-ci inclue de connaître ses forces et faiblesses et de positionner son offre de suivi. Cela dans le but de de cibler sa clientèle et personnifier son offre. Dans le cadre du suivi de reproduction, il est envisageable de décliner son offre en 3 niveaux : « Entry », « Premium », « Gold » en fonction de l'implication du vétérinaire au sein de l'exploitation. De plus il est possible pour s'adapter encore un peu à l'éleveur de proposer différent mode de facturation : un tarif horaire, un forfait par vache et un forfait annuel.
