In State economic areas in which the median income of all farm families in 1949, as reported by the census, was less than the fha families increased their incomes while under the fha program by an average of $448 in the North, 828 in the West, and $397 inthe South. In areas in which the median income of all farm families was or more, families in the sample increased their incomes while under the fha program by about in the North, about in the West, and in the South.
