This textbook invites students to discover abstract ideas in linear algebra within the context of applications. Diffusion welding and radiography, the two central applications, are introduced early on and used throughout to frame the practical uses of important linear algebra concepts. This text for a second course in linear algebra, aimed at math majors and graduates, adopts a novel approach by banishing determinants to the end of the book and focusing on understanding the structure of linear operators on vector spaces.
