Tim will take you on a journey that started from his earliest childhood memories from an Appalachian coal town to the time he separated from the US Army. In between that time is a tale of the turbulent sixties, the wild seventies, lost friends who were never seen again, drug and alcohol abuse, and lost love. Everybody has a story to tell, and Tim wants the reader to hear his story. Some parts of this tale will have you laughing, but some of it will give you some moments of reflection and perhaps let you ponder your own life. Why most people struggle and battle literally to carve out a place for themselves. Read about how a young boy is taken out of the mountains and thrown into a totally alien world and how he adapted. How a teenager goes from a good football player and turns into a teenage delinquent in a matter of a few months. Learn about the poor state of the military after Vietnam, plus much more. This is Tim’s tale as seen through his eyes, so hang on. It will keep you entertained, and he is sure you will love it.

After beginning his life in western Virginia on the south side of the Ohio River, Thomas Stonewall Jackson had no idea that one day he would wear gray while battling to defend his home state. As Ulysses S. Grant took his first breath in southern Ohio on the north side of the Ohio River, he also did not know of the life that would eventually unfold for him as he donned blue and fought to save the Union. In a collection of historical folktales inspired by an Appalachian grandmother’s retelling of her own grandfather’s stories of the American Civil War, others are provided with a glimpse into the lives of Jackson and Grant from a different perspective. While growing up on opposite sides of the Ohio River, the folktales reveal how Jackson and Grant slowly transformed into military leaders who bravely guided their troops through a tumultuous time in American history. One Wore Gray: One Wore Blue shares a grandmother’s retelling of the lives of two of the most significant generals of the Civil War who fought on opposite sides of the battlefield.

Will Fisher volunteers to recruit fellow alums he hasn't seen for forty-five years to attend the 2007 Alumni Reunion of the Poitiers American High School. As an American teenager coming-of-age in France in the late 1950s, Will has special memories of how joining the closely-knit military community made a life altering impact on him and his new friends. Until the reunion weekend, he didn't know how much of an impact. Reunited, The Life and Loves of an Army Brat, is a nostalgic, intricately plotted, multi-generational novel of how Will, through conversations on the phone and during the reunion weekend, relives his unique high school experiences in France and how he and the first two loves of his life, SueAnn and Sloane, have fared since their return to the U.S. His Army Brat background helps him bond with Gina, his future wife, and how, through a Fisher family connection, Gina discovers the details of her deceased mother's experiences during the Holocaust. At the reunion's closing brunch at Will's and Gina's home, SueAnn's glancing at a photo, triggers a long suppressed memory that leads to a stunning discovery that SueAnn, Will, and their families have to resolve.

In the decade following World War II, the time of the Baby Boomers, life was much different than today for the children growing up. There was almost unlimited freedom for kids. They could go out and play without parental supervision. "Be home for lunch!" or "Be home by ten!" was often the only restrictions they had during the summer or weekends during the school year. It didn't matter if they lived in small towns in the Midwest, the cities of the east coast, or on military bases in the United States or Europe. They had plenty of friends to play with and the dangers of drugs or abduction wasn't even on their radar. The biggest fear of the day was whether or not the commies would release the A-Bomb on American cities. Rock 'n' Roll was taking over the sound waves and baseball was the national pastime. It was a great time to be alive. Europe was rebuilding after the war and the United States had a huge presence in Europe, especially in Germany. Growing up on military bases during the '50s and '60s left the door wide open for adventures and hijinks on a grand scale. Army Brats is a story of a young boy growing up as a military dependent during that time.
