The research and development effort at the US Army Medical Research Laboratory, Fort Knox, Kentucky, is concerned with studies in sensory psychophysiology, the biological effects of laser radiation, and methodology related to the preservation, transfusion, collecting, processing, and shipment of human blood. The progress during Fiscal Year 1973 and the current status of the various work units are reported herein. (Author).

The report indicates the present status of active research projects at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology from 1 July 1972 to 30 June 1973.

The program is directed towards research on the differentiation between necrotic and viable tissue, on the mechanism of mineralization of hard and soft tissue, on bone healing, on the development of internal and external body biomechanical materials and devices, and on development and evaluation of medical items required for field use of the Army.
