Excerpt from Annual Magazine Subject-Index, 1912: A Subject-Index to a Selected List of American and English Periodicals and Society Publications Not Elsewhere Indexed The magazine subject-index for 1912 is the fifth annual supplement to volume one which was compiled by the present editor in 1907 and covered many periodicals from their birth to December, 1907. Since this initial volume was issued certain changes have been made in the periodicals indexed, due first, to the regular mortality in the periodical field, and second, to the inclusion Of our titles in other gen eral indexes to periodical literature. Our rule has always been and will still remain no duplication. This index will always cover an entirely new field. Owing to the suspension of Poole's Index the unindexed field is larger this year than ever before. We have added many new titles to our list, and plans on foot will, we feel sure, result in many more Of the Poole sets being covered in the near future. History, Travel, Mountaineering, Exploration, Forestry, Outdoor life, The Fine Arts and Architecture are still our specialties and we aim to cover these subjects thoroughly. The general field is not neglected, however, and many valu able references Ou almost any subject are made available. Since our last record four Of our indexed periodicals have ceased publication: - A merican Catholic Historical Researches (july, Granite State Magazine (dec. North Dakota Magazine (aug.
