A lawsuit over rights to a suddenly popular 1960s ditty fuels a lively rock and roll nostalgia trip in Dunn's latest "musical novel." Songwriter Dink Stephenson, his partner, Princess Diamond, and producer, Punky Solomon, engineered the mid-'60s success of New York "bad girl" trio the Annas, fronted by the mega-sexy, beehived and heavily mascara'd Anna Dubower. The Annas score two #1 hits, but their time at the top is cut short by the British Invasion.

“I, Layla Lecruest, reject you Alpha Sebastian of the Red Moon Pack as my mate.” Alpha Sebastian lifted his head. His thick hair blew back as the door to the house opened and a wind swept in. “I, Alpha Sebastian of the Red Moon Pack, accept your rejection.” Yes, it hurt to be rejected. Your mate was the one person in the entire world that was meant for you and the stories I had heard were glorious. Like the only two pieces of a puzzle, you find each other and become whole. You will never love anyone as you love your mate. And you never got a second chance. It was very rare, and I had just rejected mine. Layla Lecruest, is a fierce, brave, and strong-willed girl who never cared about fitting in but neither did she plan to stand out as much as she did. Believing to be a normal wolf, the daughter of a former Beta, she never thought herself to be special. Little did she know that she held a gene that many believed to have been gone for a long time. When she finds out that her mate is the Alpha who spent his life tormenting her, they quickly reject each other on the spot. Unbeknownst to them, Alpha Kade was on his way and would turn everything upside down as her second chance mate. The notorious Alpha Kade was famous for his strength and his ability to lead his pack. He earned respect wherever he went and when he arrived at the Red Moon Pack, he swore he wouldn't leave without his mate. What happens when Layla finds herself stuck between her former and current mate as well as a pack of wolves with superior powers who thought she belonged to them? And what happens when another, even bigger secret is revealed? This is book 1 of the trilogy.

Everybody has a teen bedroom story. The teen bedroom has universally been regarded as a safe haven for adolescents from all classes and backgrounds, and a near-sacred space that s basically off-limits to everyone but its teenage occupants (and their invited guests). But it s a relatively recent Western phenomenon that assumed a prominent role in socializing teens and shaping their identities during the years following World War II. As part of the identity-shaping process, the teen bedroom became a safe space for teens to express their growing consumer power, parallel to the emergence of youth subcultures after the War. Reid tracks the history of bedrooms for children back to the Civil War period, though the bulk of his research stretches from the late 1950s through the beginning of the 21st century. The rock posters, stuffed animals, and record players that found their way into teen bedroom during this period represent ways in which tends became major contributors to the postwar consumer economy. Reid by no means neglects popular culture, in the meantime, detailing the ways in which the teen bedroom appeared in song, film, television, and literature. It was often portrayed as a space of personal development and self-expression, but also as a site profound loneliness and romantic longing. To quote the Beach Boys 1963 hit song In My Room, the postwar teen bedroom featured just as much sighing and crying as it did scheming and dreaming. "

"Easily the most brilliant fiction I've seen this year -- it proves the potential brilliance of the novel form." -- John Fowles, author of The Magus Observatory Mansions, once the Orme family's magnificent ancestral home set on beautiful grounds, is now a crumbling apartment block stranded on a traffic island, peopled with eccentrics. Thirty-seven-year-old Francis Orme lives in Observatory Mansions with his peculiar parents and a collection of misfits. By day he is a street performer, earning money as "a statue of whiteness" in the park, wearing white gloves to ensure that his skin never touches anything. He steals items for his museum of significant objects (996 in all), not for their monetary value but because they have been loved, often bringing grief to their erstwhile owners. His bedridden mother, Alice, who has created for herself an alternative time frame called "fiction," and his father, Francis, are among the occupants set apart from the rest of the busy city by their histories, their memories, and their relationships with the other seven inhabitants of the flats. Each of the house dwellers has his or her own story, as seen through Francis's eyes, and the careful routine and harmony of the house are shaken when along comes a new resident, the half-blind, vulnerable Anna Tap. She is sympathetic and resourceful, and slowly the desperately lonely residents begin to open up their long-closed hearts. As the delicate balance of Observatory Mansions begins to shift, Francis finds himself having to protect the secrets of his past and the sanctity of his collection, while growing emotionally closer to Anna. Hailed as no less than a tour de force, Observatory Mansions is a debut novel of immense originality--a strangely haunting landscape occupied by compelling and unforgettable characters.
