This book provides a thorough description of classical electromagnetic radiation, starting from Maxwell's equations, and moving on to show how fundamental concepts are applied in a wide variety of examples from areas such as classical optics, antenna analysis, and electromagnetic scattering. Il consiste en un creuset de terre de la capacité de litre environ, percé au fond d'un trou de 1 à 2 centi mètres de diamètre; le creuset est placé sur une grille de fourneau portant aussi un trou à son milieu; sous cette grille se trouve un petit ballon de de litre à peu près, dont le col passe à travers le trou central de la grille, pour venir s'engager au fond du creuset. Toutes les jointures sont bouchées, et toutes les pièces réunies par un lut composé d'un mélange de trois parties de terre à four finement tami sée une partie de maeicot, et de l'eau salée de maniere à avoir une pâte molle. Quand le lut est sec la grille est posée sur un fourneau, de manière que le ballon se trouve dans le foyer; sur la grille sont placés deux laboratoires qui forment le foyer destiné à chauffer le creuset.
