Assessing the influence of both seventeenth- and nineteenth-century scientific humanism on the ideas of Julian Huxley, the founding father of modern scientific humanism and the first director of UNESCO, the author discusses the changes that have occurred in UNESCO's self-perception, identity, and vision of globalization, particularly within the context of its four programs-MOST, IBC, the Dakar Framework for Action, and the CCP.
