This book is the first definitive publication to consider the intersections of applied theatre and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – a series of goals which have shaped development and social justice initiatives from 2015 to 2030. It brings together emerging and leading scholars and practitioners engaged in creative and community contexts globally. In so doing, the book offers critical insights to explore the convergences, complexities, and tensions of working within development frameworks, through theatre. El libro compuesto por textos de diferentes autores presenta enfoques y metodologías de trabajo complementarias sobre la sostenibilidad en general y , más en concreto, sobre la Agenda 21 Local como herramienta de diagnóstico, planificación y acción participativa para el desarrollo local sostenible. En ese sentido, las reflexiones que se efectúan sobre tales cuestiones se fundamentan en la presentación y el análisis de experiencias sobresalientes de desarrollo sostenible y de procesos específicos de Agenda 21 Local en España y Latinoamérica. Con todo ello se aportan elementos teóricos, metodológicos y prácticos sobre aspectos fundamentales de la sostenibilidad y sobre la participación como mecanismo de profundización de la democracia.

La Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) aprobó la Agenda 2030 con la finalidad de adoptar el Desarrollo Sostenible a nivel mundial, mediante el cumplimiento de 17 Objetivos entre los que se encuentran la eliminación de la pobreza, la lucha contra el cambio climático, la educación, la igualdad de la mujer, así como la defensa del medio ambiente, entre otros. De acuerdo con lo señalado, la obra Buenas prácticas para el cumplimiento de los Objetivos del Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) recopila experiencias realizadas en México, Ecuador y Chile con temas relacionados al cumplimiento de los ODS. Los temas a tratar en esta obra comprenden la innovación en el manejo del suelo y el agua para una producción agrícola más sostenible, los modelos de gestión como herramientas para alcanzar la sustentabilidad en empresas asociativas, propuestas de uso de energía solar térmica como alternativa para garantizar el acceso a una energía asequible, segura y sostenible, así como temas relacionados con los factores que condicionan un desarrollo organizacional y sostenible en asociaciones rurales agropecuarias, con la vulnerabilidad de la disponibilidad hídrica mediante un modelo hidrológico para su manejo sostenible, la relación entre motivación monetaria y productividad de la mano de obra femenina temporera agrícola, la ecoeficiencia del recurso hídrico en la agricultura familiar campesina, y por último, el rol del plástico y microplásticos en el cumplimiento de los ODS. Las implicaciones que estos temas tienen en el cumplimiento a la agenda 2030, hace necesario que constantemente se realicen actualizaciones y perfeccionamiento de las buenas prácticas, y es aquí donde las nuevas tecnologías y la divulgación del conocimiento juegan un papel importante. Con esta obra se espera dar a conocer algunas de las acciones necesarias para el cumplimiento de los ODS.
