This Instruction authorizes DoD Manual 7200.10-M as a Department of Defense issuance on the principles, policies, standards, and procedures that will govern property accountability for Government property lost, damaged, or destroyed.

The purpose of this Manual is to revise, expand, and update the policies and procedures applicable to cases involving the loss, damage, or destruction of Government property. It accounts for loss, damage, or destruction of Government property, determining the amount of financial liability of those found to be responsible for such financial losses, providing relief from accountability, and establishing debts resulting from the assessment of financial liability.
