Abortion is a legal medical procedure that has been provided to millions of American women. Since the Institute of Medicine first reviewed the health implications of national legalized abortion in 1975, there has been a plethora of related scientific research, including well-designed randomized clinical trials, systematic reviews, and epidemiological studies examining abortion care. This research has focused on examining the relative safety of abortion methods and the appropriateness of methods for different clinical circumstances. With this growing body of research, earlier abortion methods have been refined, discontinued, and new approaches have been developed. The Safety and Quality of Abortion Care in the United States offers a comprehensive review of the current state of the science related to the provision of safe, high-quality abortion services in the United States. This report considers 8 research questions and presents conclusions, including gaps in research.

Abortion - Exposed. Breaking the cycle of anger, guilt and shame. This book is for women who have terminated the life or lives of their unborn child with feelings of guilt, angry and shame. This book may be what you're looking for. A book that may help you come to terms with the decisions of the past and help bring healing and wholeness. If the act of terminating the life of an unborn child is the subject of doubt, I am here to acknowledge whatever truths can be gleaned from convictions that are unsafe -rather like sentencing a person to be hanged or executed only to realise in the wake of fresh evidence, that an innocent life could have been saved if only...ah...if only!My overall aim, is to prevent us females accidentally finding ourselves pregnant and breaking the law of man let alone the law of God. A safe decision ensures peace of mind. On the contrary, an unsafe decision leads to a nagging suspicion that what's done is done and can never be revoked -hence self-condemnation! You may have prayed, which is a communication between you and God. God then touches you with a strong conviction in your heart saying "please, just wait awhile." With that loving, gentle smile; went ahead and did it anyway and suffered the consequences of, O my God what have I done. Followed with emotions of condemnation, guilt, shame and more; or maybe you're not bothered and life goes on for you and that's fine, maybe that's because one did not view the foetus as a baby but purely a mass of cells. However, some of us women report a sense of relief after an abortion; this sense of relief can vary from woman to woman. The fact remains that a life has been destroyed and has its consequences. These consequences are real, not just physical or emotional but spiritually. I appeal to the hearts of us women, if there are any doubts in our hearts to abort, please ask God for His Divine will -not my will but Thy will to be paramount in our lives.

The definitive history of abortion in the United States, with a new preface that equips readers for what’s to come. When Abortion Was a Crime is the must-read book on abortion history. Originally published ahead of the thirtieth anniversary of Roe v. Wade, this award-winning study was the first to examine the entire period during which abortion was illegal in the United States, beginning in the mid-nineteenth century and ending with that monumental case in 1973. When Abortion Was a Crime is filled with intimate stories and nuanced analysis, demonstrating how abortion was criminalized and policed—and how millions of women sought abortions regardless of the law. With this edition, Leslie J. Reagan provides a new preface that addresses the dangerous and ongoing threats to abortion access across the country, and the precarity of our current moment. While abortions have typically been portrayed as grim "back alley" operations, this deeply researched history confirms that many abortion providers—including physicians—practiced openly and safely, despite prohibitions by the state and the American Medical Association. Women could find cooperative and reliable practitioners; but prosecution, public humiliation, loss of privacy, and inferior medical care were a constant threat. Reagan's analysis of previously untapped sources, including inquest records and trial transcripts, shows the fragility of patient rights and raises provocative questions about the relationship between medicine and law. With the right to abortion increasingly under attack, this book remains the definitive history of abortion in the United States, offering vital lessons for every American concerned with health care, civil liberties, and personal and sexual freedom.

This User’s Guide is intended to support the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and quality evaluation of registries created to increase understanding of patient outcomes. For the purposes of this guide, a patient registry is an organized system that uses observational study methods to collect uniform data (clinical and other) to evaluate specified outcomes for a population defined by a particular disease, condition, or exposure, and that serves one or more predetermined scientific, clinical, or policy purposes. A registry database is a file (or files) derived from the registry. Although registries can serve many purposes, this guide focuses on registries created for one or more of the following purposes: to describe the natural history of disease, to determine clinical effectiveness or cost-effectiveness of health care products and services, to measure or monitor safety and harm, and/or to measure quality of care. Registries are classified according to how their populations are defined. For example, product registries include patients who have been exposed to biopharmaceutical products or medical devices. Health services registries consist of patients who have had a common procedure, clinical encounter, or hospitalization. Disease or condition registries are defined by patients having the same diagnosis, such as cystic fibrosis or heart failure. The User’s Guide was created by researchers affiliated with AHRQ’s Effective Health Care Program, particularly those who participated in AHRQ’s DEcIDE (Developing Evidence to Inform Decisions About Effectiveness) program. Chapters were subject to multiple internal and external independent reviews.
