This book presents principal controversies over the determination of death by neurologic criteria (“brain death”). The editors and authors are exceedingly well-versed in this subject and are on the forefront of the current debates. The content is divided in the following disciplinary: philosophical (conceptual), medical, scientific, legal, religious, and ethical/social. Many of the topics feature pro-con debates, allowing readers to consider the merits of the arguments and decide their own position. The work is targeted to clinicians and nurses who treat critically ill and dying patients, organ donation personnel, ethicists and philosophers who write on end-of-life issues, and lawyers and legislative/public policy professionals who draft laws on death determination. It identifies and debates the essential controversies currently raging in academic and public policy circles over the medical adequacy, scientific validity, and conceptual coherence of death determination by neurologic criteria. Whether a professional or a student, the reader will be given a comprehensive course in the most pressing controversies and areas of consensus in the determination of death by neurologic criteria.

This work began 12th month of 1987, 28 years ago. Over the years, I wrote and lost the manuscript 7 times before completion, only to have my book bag stolen. I finally manage to publish two small works, entitled ABCs OF ALKEMI & 123 = WISDOM. In those works I used poetry, illustrations, Gematria and numerology to introduce the Alphabet as The Book of Egyptian God Thoth, namely, the TAROT. In this work, it became my task to elaborate on the ABCs as the Alkemical operation of the human psyche, a.k.a. soul. In short, this work is about three things: 1. Love for Wisdom (Philosophy) 2. The TAROT as The Wheel of GOD (rotation of Great Operation Divine) 3. The ABCs as the alpha-numerical system of Light ON Science (CONSCIENCE)

from womens place being in the home, to &nbs p  her place being CEO of corporations; from a struggle &nbs p  to succeed in life, to the responsibilities it entails, The &nbs p  ABCs of Values deals with ideas and ideals that are &nbs p  essential in living life. &nbs p  The transformation of society is inevitable, leading to &nbs p  an older generations questioning the new. But some ways of interacting with others, keeping reasonable and responsible standards, is vital to living a good and fulfilled life in every generation. The words chosen in The ABCs of Values and their short, insightful evaluation, can encourage contemplation on how to be a better person and live a better life. The book does not pass judgment on the present or glorify the past, but tries to evaluate actions and attitudes that can improve an individual and society. Words abound in todays society, on radio, television, telephone, on iPods and are not necessarily significant. This book takes important or ordinary words and explores their meaning and ways in which they can explain a difficulty, en- courage action, or explore a positive component. Words have meaning, and what they mean can help us lead a better life and be a better person. Each word in the book is accompanied by a famous quotation. Each word is aimed at encouraging the reader to enjoy a happy, successful, life of good humor, good friends, good times, doing good things for yourself and those who share it with you. The ABCs of Values makes it clear that goodness is not always present, but a good attempt at recognizing difficulties and dealing with them makes it possible to live and enjoy a good life.
