There are three park systems in Saskatchewan: Regional, Provincial, and National. All provide wonderful recreational opportunities to virtually every community in the province.

This book documents nearly 500 US and Canadian locations where wildlife refuges, nature preserves, and similar properties protect natural sites that lie within the North American Great Plains, from Canada's Prairie Provinces to the Texas-Mexico border. Information on site location, size, biological diversity, and the presence of especially rare or interesting flora and fauna are mentioned, as well as driving directions, mailing addresses, and phone numbers or internet addresses, as available. US federal sites include 11 national grasslands, 13 national parks, 16 national monuments, and more than 70 national wildlife refuges. State properties include nearly 100 state parks and wildlife management areas. Also included are about 60 national and provincial parks, national wildlife areas, and migratory bird sanctuaries in Canada's Prairie Provinces. Many public-access properties owned by counties, towns, and private organizations are also described.

Fishing Saskatchewan features fishing as a year-round activity, from summer walleye and pike fishing, to fly-fishing in the province's streams, to northern fly-in trips, to ice fishing. Sections dedicated to techniques and tackle provide specific information about how to fish for Saskatchewan fish. Chapters on fish stocking, commercial fishing, competitive fishing, and fisheries management look back over more than a hundred years of angling in the province.

The Saskatchewan regional park system results from a partnership between the provincial government, the regions, and individual communities. This publication begins with a brief history of the system and then describes each of the over 100 regional parks, arranged by tourism region. Information provided includes park name, address, and telephone number; name of ecoregion in which the park is situated; access and admission fees; services provided; local history; recreational facilities and concessions, if any, available at the park; special events, if any; and description of camp sites, if applicable. The final sections of the publication include: a classified list of parks by the type of amenity they offer; a description of Saskatchewan ecoregions, with lists of parks in each, if any; a park name index; and a table summarizing services at each park.
