Fran Clark's grandmother has passed away, and she is assigned the task of going through her Gram's personal items, deciding what to keep and what to discard. As she is going through desks and drawers, she comes across a key that opens Gram's trunk, which is filled with quilts made by generations of Clark women. The key was one she had always loved as a child. Filled with nostalgia, Fran spreads the quilts across the room, and while shedding tears for the loss of her grandmother, she suddenly finds herself transported to 1875, and she is not even sure how she got there. Scared and alone, she must find a way to fit into this new world. As Fran struggles to find her way back to her own time period, she learns of a new way of living in the post Civil War era, one of hard work with very little time for relaxation, and lacking any modern amenities, but as she begins to adjust, she discovers a different side to herself. She finds strength and a self-confidence she did not know she had, and she learns that two different men find her beautiful, something she had never thought about herself before. When the time has come to make a decision to stay or leave, she is torn. If she stays she will have a contented and fulfilled life, but she will be living a lie, and she risks hurting those she has grown to love and who love her. And if she goes, even though she will once again be back with her family, she will have to deal with all of the pressures of a modern life, and she will be facing it alone, with no one to love. Can Fran find a way back to her own time? Does she want to? Travel back in time with Fran and decide for yourself what you would do.Yesterday's Tears is the first book of a new series by Jane O'Brien called A Slip in Time.

Escape into this time travel romance series by #1 New York Times bestselling fantasy author Kelley Armstrong… Thorne Manor has always been haunted…and it has always haunted Bronwyn Dale. As a young girl, Bronwyn could pass through a time slip in her great-aunt's house, where she visited William Thorne, a boy her own age, born two centuries earlier. After a family tragedy, the house was shuttered and Bronwyn was convinced that William existed only in her imagination. Now, twenty years later Bronwyn inherits Thorne Manor. And when she returns, William is waiting. William Thorne is no longer the boy she remembers. He’s a difficult and tempestuous man, his own life marred by tragedy and a scandal that had him retreating to self-imposed exile in his beloved moors. He’s also none too pleased with Bronwyn for abandoning him all those years ago. As their friendship rekindles and sparks into something more, Bronwyn must also deal with ghosts in the present version of the house. Soon she realizes they are linked to William and the secret scandal that drove him back to Thorne Manor. To build a future, Bronwyn must confront the past. * * * * * Keywords: award-winning novel; time travel novel; time slip; Victorian romance; bestselling author; gothic; second chance at love; cold-case mystery; haunted house; Yorkshire moors; first in series; no cliffhangers

• Shares detailed accounts from people who have experienced time slips, including the author’s own experiences, as well as the practices of shamans, yoga masters, and Samadhi mystics who use trance-like meditative states to travel outside normal space and time • Offers step-by-step exercises to prepare you to experience time shifts, to help set them up, and to enhance the experience when you have slipped through time • Examines criticisms of and scientific support for this phenomenon, debunking claims that time slips are delusions or remembrances of past lives and showing that they may be related to energy vortices, black holes, or astral travel Every now and then somebody reports stepping out of normal time and space. It doesn’t seem to matter where they live or their background--the veil of ordinary reality drops and they suddenly slip into the past or future, usually seamlessly and unknowingly, experiencing a temporary and accidental form of time travel. Sharing detailed accounts from people who have experienced time slips and shifts between realities, including his own experiences, Von Braschler examines what their stories have in common to establish the pattern behind how these sudden slips in time occur. He examines criticisms of and scientific support for this phenomenon, debunking claims that time slips are delusions, implanted memories, or remembrances of past lives and showing that they may be related to energy vortices, tears in the fabric of our reality, black holes, astral travel, or light body movements. Studying reliable models from both the West and the East, he compares these excursions with shamanic journeying and the practices of yoga masters and Samadhi mystics, who use trance-like meditative states to travel outside normal space and time. Exploring the work of Einstein and other physicists, the author also examines the different speed with which time passes in ordinary reality and during time shifts--people will find that only a few minutes has elapsed for a time-shift experience that appeared to take hours. Offering step-by-step exercises to prepare you to experience time shifts, to help set them up, and to enhance the experience when you have slipped through time, the author provides a road map allowing anyone to explore shifts in time and space and expand their awareness beyond ordinary reality.

A heart-wrenching novel in verse about a poor girl surviving the Irish Land Wars, by a two-time Newbery Honor-winning author. For Anna, the family farm has always been home... But now, things are changing. Anna's mother has died, and her older siblings have emigrated, leaving Anna and her father to care for a young sister with special needs. And though their family has worked this land for years, they're in danger of losing it as poor crop yields leave them without money to pay their rent. When a violent encounter with the Lord's rent collector results in Anna and her father's arrest, all seems lost. But Anna sees her chance and bolts from the jailhouse. On the run, Anna must rely on her own inner strength to protect her sister--and try to find a way to save her family. Written in verse, A Slip of a Girl is a poignant story of adversity, resilience, and self-determination by a master of historical fiction, painting a haunting history of the tensions in the Irish countryside of the early 1890s, and the aftermath of the Great Famine.
