This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 23rd Annual Symposium on Theoretical Aspects of Computer Science, held in February 2006. The 54 revised full papers presented together with three invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 283 submissions. The papers address the whole range of theoretical computer science including algorithms and data structures, automata and formal languages, complexity theory, semantics, and logic in computer science.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Frontiers of Algorithmics Workshop, FAW 2010, held in Wuhan, China, in August 2010. The 28 revised full papers presented together with the abstracts of 3 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 57 submissions. The Workshop will provide a focused forum on current trends of research on algorithms, discrete structures, and their applications, and will bring together international experts at the research frontiers in these areas to exchange ideas and to present significant new results. The mission of the Workshop is to stimulate the various fields for which algorithmics can become a crucial enabler, and to strengthen the ties between the Eastern and Western research communities of algorithmics and applications.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Conference on Algorithmic Aspects in Information and Management, AAIM 2006, held in Hong Kong, June 2006. The book presents 34 revised full papers together with abstracts of 2 invited talks. The papers cover topics from areas such as online scheduling, game and finance, data structures and algorithms, computational geometry, optimization, graph, and string, and more.

The papers in this volume were selected for presentation at the Fourth Annual International Computing and Combinatorics Conference (COCOON’98), held on August 12–14, 1998, in Taipei. The topics cover most aspects of theoretical computer science and combinatorics related to computing. Submissions to the conference this year was only conducted electronically. Thanks to the excellent software developed by the system team of the Institute of Information Science, we were able to make virtually all communications through the World Wide Web. A total of 69 papers was submitted in time to be considered, of which 36 papers were accepted for presentation at the conference. In addition to these contributed papers, the conference also included four invited presentations by Christo Papadimitriou, Michael Fishcher, Fan Chung Graham and Rao Kosaraju. It is expected that most of the accepted papers will appear in a more complete form in scienti?c journals. Moreover, selected papers will appear in a special issue of Theoretical Computer Science. We thank all program committee members, their support sta? and referees for excellent work within demanding time constraints. We thank all authors who submitted papers for consideration. William Thurston's work has had a profound influence on mathematics. He connected whole mathematical subjects in entirely new ways and changed the way mathematicians think about geometry, topology, foliations, group theory, dynamical systems, and the way these areas interact. His emphasis on understanding and imagination in mathematical learning and thinking are integral elements of his distinctive legacy. This four-part collection brings together in one place Thurston's major writings, many of which are appearing in publication for the first time. Volumes I–III contain commentaries by the Editors. Volume IV includes a preface by Steven P. Kerckhoff. Volume III contains William Thurston's papers on dynamics and computer science, and papers written for general audiences. Additional miscellaneous papers are also included, such as his 1967 New College undergraduate thesis, which foreshadows his later work.
