We propose to expose the NAL 15-foot hydrogen bubble chamber to 200 GeV protons. We intend to take 20,000 pictures. Multiparticle final states will be studied by measuring the momenta of all charged final state particles with the exception of a few very fast tracks where at least the charge and the emission angle of the particle will be determined. Comparison with various models for high energy multiparticle production will be made. Additionally, K{sup o} and [Lambda] production will be studied as well as [pi]{sup o} production and the correlation between [pi]{sup o} and charged particles.

Using pp collision data collected at sqrt(s ) = 7 TeV in 2010 and 2011with the ATLAS detector (A Toroidal LHC ApparatuS), corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.44 fb-1 , the J/PsiPi+Pi- combinations have been studied. The selection criteria have been developed, the detection efficiency of the Xc (3872) signal has been evaluated, and the systematic errors have been identified. Both the Psi(2S ) and the Xc (3872) signals are observed in the J/PsiPi+Pi- mass spectrum. The detection of the charmonium-like X, Y, Zstates is feasible with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Other than the Psi(2 S ) and the Xc (3872) signals, there is no evidence for any significant enhancement in the J/PsiPi+Pi- mass spectrum. This dissertation research establishes that ATLAS can detect Xc (3872) like new particles in the J/PsiPi+Pi- final state, and with current data sample, no new states have been observed in this study.

Suppression of the J/psi nuclear modification factor has been seen as a trademark signature of final state effects in large collision systems for decades. In small systems, the nuclear modification was attributed to cold nuclear matter effects until the observation of strong differential suppression of the psi(2S) state in p/d+A collisions suggested the presence of final state effects. Results of J/psi and psi(2S) measurements in the dimuon decay channel are presented here for a collection of different small systems at the same collision energy. These small systems include: p+p, p+Al, p+Au and 3He+Au at collision energy square root s_NN = 200 GeV. The results are predominantly shown in the form of the nuclear modification factor, R_AB, the ratio of the J/psi or psi(2S) invariant yield per nucleon-nucleon collision in collisions of projectile A on target B to that in p+p collisions. Measurements of the J/psi and psi(2S) nuclear modification factor are then compared with shadowing and transport model predictions, as well as to complementary measurements at LHC energies.

J/Psi production has been measured by the PHENIX experiment, one of the two major experiments at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in p + p, d + Au, Au + Au and Cu + Cu collisions at the center of mass energy per nucleon (sqrt {s_{NN}}) of 200 GeV. The analysis of the Cu + Cu data is the focus of this dissertation.
